Rain-ssance

It rained.
Good for frogs, not for earthworms.
Good for lovers, not for mothers.

Good for bhuttawalas, and chaiwalas
Not for street urchins.

Good for summer blues
Not for new clothes or shoes.

Good for the parched earth
Not for flood gates.

Good for crops and potted plants
Not for weak roof slants.

Good for empty buckets
Not for rivers.

Good for the view
Not for the flu.

Good for u am sure,
Sounds great to me!

Never been much in favor of rains..ever (although am a water baby..born in August in the thick of monsoons),
Am more of a summer person. Love the sweat n heat n scorching sun anyday over clouds n cold n chills. But this piece, I can say, sounds much much better than my favorite season. You've captured the essence of rains in its extremes. Like ur sitting on the fence looking both ways. Like, not only have u got rose colored glasses on, but one of them is with a tiny crack. You see black behind the white facade. U did see the Mercedes splash in a puddle of water, only for it to land on an old cyclist trudging by.
Double thumbs up D!
